Another study, carried out in England and published by the British Journal of Sports Magazine, showed that twenty minutes a day spent on household activities is enough to considerably reduce stress levels and symptoms of anxiety and depression. Therefore, dedicating some time to keep the house clean can be a good alternative to help combat the stress that ends up being part of the routine of most people these days.


3. Contributes to physical exercise

If you don't have enough time or money available to go to the gym, be aware that cleaning the house can be an excellent way to get out of a sedentary lifestyle and practice physical activity. This was shown by a study by Boston University carried out with more than two thousand men and women, with an average age of 47 years, in the United States.


During the research, participants used a sensor to track all their activities throughout the day and a parallel between people who practiced household chores or physical exercise with others who did not do any kind of activity.


At the end of the study, the researchers concluded that the benefits found in practicing ten minutes of daily activities, such as cleaning the house and climbing the stairs, were similar to those of more intense exercise, such as walking outdoors or on a treadmill. The results also showed that all people who did any type of exercise had lower Body Mass Index (BMI) and cholesterol when compared to participants who remained sedentary.
